In 2012 my family and I relocated to Florida. We lived in New England for most of our lives, so it was a very big change. We moved here for an employment opportunity and haven’t looked back. To be honest, if I could have moved here sooner, I would have. I do not miss the snow. When asked why I like it so much all I can say is I don’t have to shovel the sunsine.
After a few years of being down here, colleagues, friends and family interested in moving here ask for advice. Should I move to Port St. Lucie or Fort Myers? Sarasota or Melbourne?
At some point in time, I have been to each location on business. I live in the Clearwater – St. Petersburg -Tampa area. Effectively I was just passing through the other areas on business. Tough to offer live changing advise on an area I am just passing through. I ask a simple question…
Do you like sunrises or sunsets?
Down here in paradise that seems to be a fitting question. I grew up on the east coast. I have had my fill of early morning sunrises. After a long day in the office, if the sky is clear, my wife and I will catch a sunset. We are only 15 minutes from the Gulf Coast and our favorite beach. We’ll head over, park the car, take our Tommy Bahama beach chairs with us and find a spot on the beach at the water’s edge. We relax and unwind. Have a drink and read a book. All the while waiting for the sun to set. When the sun sets we sit and watch.
